About the Department

The Department of English at Bacha Khan University, Charsadda was established in 2012 with the goal of fostering excellence in English language, literature, and communication studies. The department currently offers a four-year BS English (Language & Literature) program designed in accordance with the Higher Education Commission’s guidelines and contemporary academic standards. This program equips students with strong linguistic skills, critical understanding of literature and effective communication strategies, preparing them to meet the demands of both academic and professional environments. In addition to its core degree, the department supports the broader university community by offering interdisciplinary courses such as Functional English, Academic Writing, and Communication Skills, which help students from diverse disciplines, strengthen their English proficiency. Since its inception, the department has been active in academic engagements, promoting intellectual growth and personal development among its students, and continues to serve as a vibrant Centre for English studies in the region.

Our Vision

The vision of the Department of English Literature and Linguistics (DELL) is to be the center of great learning and excellence for the people of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, and eventually the whole world in the future, to produce people who will have great analytical capabilities and critical thinking who can contribute in favor of national interest and to be the part of the national think tank.

Our Mission

 Provide quality education in English language, literature, and communication studies in line with national and international academic standards.  Develop students’ linguistic proficiency, analytical skills, and critical insight through innovative teaching and research-based learning.  Encourage creativity, independent thinking, and appreciation of diverse literary and cultural traditions.  Support students from various disciplines by offering functional and academic English courses to enhance their communication skills.  Prepare graduates for careers in education, media, research, civil services, and other professional fields
